Dining Room Managers

This position is also called: Restaurant Manager and Maitre D’ Hotel

The quality of the dining experience within a particular restaurant on a cruise ship is managed by the Dining Room Manager. Good service, polite waiters, and clean tables that are properly set, are because the manager has been doing the required job.

A Dining Room Manager is in charge of all of the Wait Staff within a restaurant. There are Head Waiters under them, who will oversee several other Wait Staff. The manager ensures the proper training of the staff, sets the standards and quality of service, makes sure the tables are set up properly, seats the guests, assigns and evaluates employees, and more. They also are familiar with wines and wine service.

Qualifying for a manager position means that you need to need to have a Degree in Hospitality and at least four years of management experience on a cruise ship, or fine dining restaurant. You will also need a very good command of the English language.
