Many cruises, especially those that specialize on older clientele, find that they often end up with many more unescorted women than other cruises. To ensure that their cruise is as enjoyable as it should be, a cruise ship will bring on some Gentlemen Hosts to socialize with them.

Gentlemen Hosts need to be single men who can show a genuine interest in the ladies. They must be good dancers (possibly need to have taken classes) and know all the major ones, and they need to be able to dance for hours – every night. Non-smokers are preferred, must be over 40 (sometimes 50), and Gentlemen Hosts need to be excellent in communication – especially listening. They must also have a friendly personality, be outgoing, and be willing to participate in a number of activities and games.
