Manicurists & Nail Technicians

A cruise ship provides a lot of services for its passengers in order to give them a total pampering experience. This includes a salon which also has a manicurist for those who need nail services. The opportunity to work as a nail technician and see the world is a great way to make some money and travel.

A manicurist is required to have graduated from an accredited beauty school or college, and have the proper licenses needed. They will provide services such as hand soaks, hand massages with lotion, cleaning, shaping and then polishing the nails, treat cuticles, applying artificial nails, gels, appliqués, and more. Providing instruction about proper cuticle and nail care is also part of the job.

A year or more of previous experience may be required. Many cruise salons are run by private companies and they also do the hiring. They may require and provide additional or specialized training, too. Good English is required and saleship, since you will need to line up your own clients and be paid on commission.
