Keeping a cruise ship’s public areas and cabins clean, neat and orderly, takes a large number of people. The responsibility of the Chief Cabin Steward is to ensure that the job is performed up to the expectations of the ship – and to the satisfaction of the passengers.
The Chief Cabin Steward is responsible to check on the various cabin stewards to ensure that the quality of work is up to par, and that their work is completed. They work with the Chief Steward/Housekeeper and help to train the cabin stewards in their daily cleaning routines and sets the standards for them.
Qualifying for this job means that you will need to be a High School graduate, and also have some experience in management and at least two or three years working in a hotel or ship. Good English is necessary and knowing other languages will help. It is possible to be promoted through the ranks.
