Administration Pursers

Before pulling into any port, it is the job of the Administration Purser to prepare all of the documents needed for the ship’s clearance from the Port Authorities. They also ensure that all of the documentation needed for Immigration and Customs is in order.

The Administration Purser is responsible to meet port agents at the gangway at every port in order to deliver the proper documentation and get clearance for the ship. They must also develop and maintain a working relationship with them and with customs and immigration officials. They must have a strong current knowledge of the laws in each port so that all documents can be ready on time. Gathering immigration documentation when passengers embark is another duty of this officer, and then submitting problem documents to superiors for their approval or denial.

Requirements for this position include being able to read, write, and speak excellent English. They will also be expected to know current customs and immigration laws and procedures.
