Gift Shop Managers

This position may also be called: Retail Sales Manager

The Gift Shop Manager provides supervision over the Gift Shop staff and makes sure that passengers receive friendly, excellent service. They are also responsible to keep the budget within projected range, and must promote products in the store to obtain maximum sales results.

It is the job of the Manager of the Gift Shop to:

  • Make sure that all of the staff of the gift shop is trained.
  • Prepare staff to be ready to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Informed staff of all promotions and special sales.
  • Make sure that the merchandise is received.
  • Ensures that merchandise is entered into the computer system.
  • Makes merchandise available using visual merchandising techniques.

A Gift Shop Manager needs to have at least a High School Diploma, but a College Degree may be preferred in Business Administration or related field. They will also need to have computer familiarity, and a minimum of two years of retail management experience – preferably on a cruise ship. Will also need to have good English, be able to motivate the staff, and be able to lift up to 55 pounds.
