Food & Beverage Department

On a cruise ship, the Food and Beverage department is the largest section in terms of crew size. They are the ones that prepare and serve the many delicious meals and mouth-watering desserts, snacks, and beverages in the restaurants, lounges and bars.

In Focus: Culinary Overview (Disney Cruise Line)

The Food & Beverage staff work hard to create and present the many different foods and meals that can be found in various places on the ship. It takes many different people all working together in an organized way to provide some of the great meals.

In Focus: Quick Service Attendant

The department includes:

  • The Management
  • Sous Chefs
  • Bakers
  • Butcher
  • Sommeliers
  • Wait staff
  • Bar and Buffet Servers, and more.

Keeping everything spotlessly clean is also an ongoing task. Most everyone in the galley gets involved.

In Focus: Assistant Dining Room Server

Some of the positions in the Food & Beverage section require Culinary Diplomas, or years of experience in five star restaurants, hotels, or resorts. Good English is required, and other languages may be helpful – especially where there is a multinational crew. Other positions are entry-level, but will still require experience.
