Production Managers

This position may also be called: Stage Manager, Assistant Production Manager, and Assistant Stage Manager

When it comes to creating an award-winning show on a cruise ship, it will take an excellent Production Manager or Stage Manager to do it. This individual has expert knowledge of various electric and electronic systems used to make the elaborate cruise ship’s show one of the best the passengers have ever seen.

Production Managers are responsible to ensure that the various stage crew members are able to operate the lighting, sound, special effects, and the performers as needed. Since shows are often repeated on different cruises, a stage notebook is created for each one, which covers everything that needs to be done during the performance. It will serve as a guide for actual performances. They are also responsible to:

  • Work with entertainers to ensure a smooth performance.
  • Keep them on script.
  • Meet with the entertainers.
  • Supervise the construction of the scenery.
  • Handle problems of discipline.
