A Carpenter on a cruise ship is responsible for maintaining all of the wood components. It is not unusual that they will often work with fiberglass and aluminum, too. They will help in the assembly and repairs of various wood items, and then finish it.

It is the job of the Carpenter to repair, replace, or build new components out of wood and other materials. They also are responsible to assemble wood products, finish them, and make inspections to ensure the quality needed or desired. They will also maintain the quality of the appearance of the wood on the ship.

In order to qualify for a position as a carpenter, you will need to have a High School Diploma. This is an entry-level position, but you will be expected to have strong carpentry skills and experience. Completing an Apprenticeship may give you an advantage. You will be expected to be physically fit, be able to read blueprints, have good English, and have some math skills.
