Working for Antarctic Dream

For a truly unique cruise ship working experience consider applying to Antarctic Dream, which takes travelers to the world’s polar regions. A member of the company’s management team told us about their company, job opportunities, and hiring process.

Please tell us about your company and role in the staffing process.

Our company takes adventure-minded people to the world’s Polar Regions. My main role is to receive and process resumes in order to hire new employees.

How many vessels does your company operate?

We operate one Vessel, the M/V Antarctic Dream, doing Polar Expeditions (Antarctica and the Arctic). The Antarctic Dream was built in Haarlem, Holland and launched as the "Piloto Pardo" in October of 1957. She was especially constructed for ice navigation. The ship was incorporated into the Chilean Navy in April of 1959. Antarctic Shipping S.A. was created in 2002 by a group of former naval officers with the goal of using the former Piloto Pardo Vessel for tourism trips to the Antarctic Peninsula.

Describe a typical ‘cruise’ if there is such a thing. What would the shipboard experience be like for a typical employee?

The typical cruise is fun, filled with adventure, provides awesome experiences, but with a lot of work as well. Some crew members experience seasickness during the Drake crossing, but usually the trip is one of the best trips ever for the employees.
