Stewardess Jobs on Private Yachts
One of the most visible jobs in the yachting industry is the steward or stewardess. This employee really acts as the host for the yacht's passengers, whether they are the owners or people chartering the yacht. Depending on the size of the yacht and its crew, stewards may perform a great deal of the inside work of the yacht.
Here is a small sampling of some of the typical duties a steward/stewardess performs:
- Make up beds in the morning, turn them down at night
- Wash sheets, towels, and other laundry
- Work with captain and other crew members to plan each day at sea, such as when meals will be served, etc.
- Arrange flowers
- Greet passengers and be available to answer questions
- Clean all interior rooms, including floors
- Serve food and beverages

If you're interested in becoming a steward/stewardess, you must have a genuine interest in taking care of guests as well as good people skills. You will work long hours catering to many different kinds of people, and if you don't enjoy working with people, you will have a difficult time enjoying this position, as well as succeeding in it.
Since you will be juggling multiple responsibilities and you may be required to direct the work of other stewards or housekeepers, good leadership abilities and organizational skills are also important for the job.
