Jobs with Westin Hotels & Resorts

Founded in 1930 when two hotel competitors found themselves having breakfast at the same restaurant, Western Hotels, now Westin Hotels & Resorts, was created when the two decided to form a business alliance.

The History of Westin

Western Hotels first opened with seventeen hotels, all but one, being in the state of Washington. The alliance brought about expansion, and in 1954 the first hotel outside the United States opened in Canada. With this opening, Western Hotels became Western International Hotels.

For the company's 50th anniversary, the name was changed again to the current Westin Hotels & Resorts. Today, and especially within the last decade, the company has had a particular focus on expanding globally. Today, Westin Hotels & Resorts are located in 37 countries with 160 hotels.

Westin is credited with introducing the first guest credit cards, 24-hour room service and personal voice mail in each guest room.
