Ritz Carlton Hotels is considered one of the most esteemed luxury hotel companies in the world - and a superb company to work for. With over 75 hotels in some of the world's most beautiful places, when guests are greeted by the lion and crown - the company's famous logo - they know they are in for a good stay. A lot of the experience can be attributed to the fine job Ritz-Carlton employees do every day!

The Legacy of Cesar Ritz

Although famous and legendary are rarely used in the same sentence as hotelier, when it comes to describing Cesar Ritz, they are always used. Considered to be the "king of hoteliers, and hotelier to kings," Cesar Ritz ran the highly successful, not to mention highly elegant and highly tasteful, Hotel Ritz in Paris and the Ritz Hotel in London. Perhaps, the biggest proof of his legacy was the birth of the word ritzy.

Although Cesar Ritz had no direct relation to what would become Ritz-Carlton Hotels, his hoteliering epitomized style and service, and as a result, was an ideal namesake. Hotels with the Ritz name like the Ritz-Carlton Boston began to open their doors around North America throughout the early 1900s.

The Ritz-Carlton company that we know today was established in 1983 with the purchase of the Ritz-Carlton Boston and the rights to the Ritz-Carlton name. From one hotel to now 77 hotels worldwide, the Ritz-Carlton has grown to be one of the most prestigious hotel management companies, all along carrying on the legacy of Cesar Ritz.

How It's Done at Ritz-Carlton

Continuing in the tradition of Cesar Ritz, Ritz-Carlton hotels offer a luxury experience for their guests. Their company motto is "We are Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen." Properties tend to be in prime locations. Take New York City for example. There are two Ritz-Carlton Hotels, one overlooking Central Park South and a second in Battery Park. The hotel facilities offer gourmet dining, spa facilities and other luxury amenities.

The aesthetics of Ritz-Carlton Hotels are traditionally quite uniform. Ritz-Carltons are known for their dark woods, traditional furniture and elegant chandeliers. In recent years however, there has been a departure from this traditional look, and new Ritz-Carlton properties are opening with more sleek and contemporary designs, that vary from destination to destination.

Through the years, Ritz-Carlton Hotels have accumulated an arsenal of awards. Most recently, 25 Ritz-Carlton properties were named on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List 2012.

Employment with Ritz-Carlton Hotels

Ritz-Carlton Hotels currently employs over 35,000 employees around the world. Considered to be one of the premier hotel companies, competition for employment is competitive, however, as more properties open, more opportunities become available. Currently, new properties are in the works for locations such as California, Quebec, Aruba, Japan, India, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

What may be a surprise to many is that Ritz Carlton Hotels is a subsidiary of Marriot International. What this means is that employment with Ritz-Carlton opens up the opportunity to not only grow within Ritz-Carlton, but also within the network of Marriot Hotels.
