Please describe what your company does.

Our company has two arms - the InnerSea Discoveries is more for adventure cruising and ideal for the party crowd who wants to enjoy lots of Sea of Cortes Cruise photoactivities on their cruise. American Safari Cruises on the other hand is the more sophisticated of the two combining luxury with adventure and offering exclusive experiences.

How many vessels does your company operate?

InnerSea Discoveries operates 3 small "Wilderness" ships, namely the Wilderness Adventurer, Wilderness Discoverer, and the Wilderness Explorer. American Safari Cruises consists of 4 luxury "Safari" Yachts - the Safari Spirit, Safari Quest, Safari Explorer (our flagship), and the Safari Endeavour, which is bigger, accommodating 86 passengers.

Describe a typical 'cruise' if there is such a thing. What would the shipboard experience be like for a typical employee?

Our cruises are all geared towards adventurers so crew can expect adrenaline pumping, exciting, but physically demanding work.

What are some of the common job titles you advertise for?

Engineers, 1st Mate, Bar tenders, Expedition Guides, Expedition Leaders, Hotel Managers, Stewards, Deckhands, Sales Counselor, and Wellness Instructor among others.

What are some of the selling points you use to get people onboard to work with your company?

Working with us is fun, it is adventure, and it is exhilarating. We travel to interesting destinations and provide employees with an inspiring place to work.

Describe your perfect candidate. How can someone best make a great first impression with you?

The perfect candidate is someone who wants to travel, enjoy some adventure, but someone who is also mature, responsible, dedicated and motivated. The first impression we should get of you is that we want to get to know you better. You must ooze personality.

What advice would you give people to help them prepare for interviews with your company?

The main piece of advice would be to understand what position you have applied for. Look up some of the basic duties that this job offers, as well as more about our company, and this will stand you in good stead. It shows that you are serious about working with us.

What are some common misperceptions people have about working on cruise ships?

People think cruise jobs are going to be a walk in the park. This is far from it!
